President Ilir Meta has reacted after the reduce of vegetable experts for the first time in 16 years, referring to an article by Monitor. Meta says that this is a very worrying indicator of the low level of support for agriculture and the village. The head of state underlines that it is a national obligation for the Government to stop this negative trend by increasing support for farmers.
“The reduction for the first time in 16 years of vegetable exports is depriving our farmer and agriculture of one of its few comparative advantages in the region and beyond. After the alarming contraction of livestock production and the drastic reduction of the number of heads in recent years, this is another very worrying indicator of the low level of support for agriculture and the village, for the unaffordable high cost of agricultural and livestock production.
This is a dangerous premise for the abandonment of the village and the country by the impossibility of production and sale. “It is a patriotic obligation to stop at all costs this negative trend by the Government by increasing support for farmers and protecting domestic production from relentless and unfair competition from imports,” writes Meta.
