Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj is holding a joint press conference with German Minister Anna Lührmann. During his speech, Ahmetaj stressed out that Albania has done its homework for the opening of negotiations for membership in the European Union, while emphasizing that the EC has been recommending this for three years.
Speaking about the progress made so far, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the spirit in the Western Balkans does not resemble the spirit of the first 10 years, when the discourse was harsh and unfriendly. For her part, Minister Lührmann assured the Deputy Prime Minister that the German Federal Government under the new Chancellor will continue to give its support to Albania and the region.
Lührmann also called on the government and the opposition to push for reforms and for the regional market to include six countries.
