schedule 08:00 - 11 Janar, 2022

Sali Berisha has been permanently expelled from the Democratic Party. The news is announced by the journalist Juxhin Mustafaraj from sources inside the Blue Headquarters. The decision was taken during the meeting of the DP assembly, a meeting that started on Monday afternoon at 19.00 and ended around 03.30 in the morning.

In addition to the former leader Sali Berisha, at the meeting of the assembly of the Democratic Party it was decided to expel from the party eight members of the Re-establishment Commission. The excluded members are Flamur Noka, Albana Vokshi, Edmond Spaho, Arben Ristani, Klevis Balliu, Keltis Kruja, Bujar Nishani and Edmond Spaho.

The DP leadership has also decided to dismiss the political leaders in the capital Belin Këlliçi, Albana Vokshi, Aldo Bumçi, Agron Shehaj, Flamur Noka, Tritan Sheu in Gjirokastra, Bujar Leskaj-Vlora, Edmond Spaho-Korça and Edi Paloka in Durrës.

The “radical” decisions in the DP were taken after the January 8 protest where there were clashes between the official DP and supporters of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. During yesterday’s discussions, the leader of the Democrats asked the members of the DP Presidency that none of the discussions should be published in the media.

In the official position made public on Tuesday morning, PD explains that the decisions were taken after 48 hours have passed since January 8 and no act of distancing itself from the “unprecedented violence” that according to what is stated in the statement was ordered, organized and was incited by some party members, towards their party and members of the Democratic Party.

It is now expected that very soon in the coming days the National Council will convene to seal the decisions taken on 10 January. Recall that the “division” in the DP began on September 9 when the leader of the right announced that he had expelled Sali Berisha from the DP parliamentary group, after the latter was declared “non grata” by the US State Department.

A series of decisions were taken in this Assembly, including the dismissal of the leader of the Democrats, Lulzim Basha. This decision was voted in the December 18 Referendum by 43,385 members, on the same day when the official DP held the National Assembly in the Palace of Congresses.

All these events that have followed each other in recent months led today to the dismissal of Sali Berisha who has made it clear several times that the one he is leading is a peaceful revolution and that the protests will continue.
