The Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, after the government meeting, announced that the agreement between the government and the EU for Albania’s participation in the Union program related to scientific research and innovation has been approved. In her speech, Kushi said that the agreement aims to create a single market, to promote cooperation between universities and research.
“They approved the agreement between the EU and Albania for participation in the union program for scientific research and innovation. As they are essential for sustainable development the EU seeks to create a common area for research and innovation. The agreement they approved stipulates all the conditions and criteria that Albania must meet to participate in this program.
The EU aims to create a single market, to foster cooperation between universities and research. Above all by promoting the freedom of scientific research. The agreement we approved includes the conditions and criteria to participate in this program. The Ministry of Education pays a contribution so that all institutions have the opportunity to participate in this project. Our challenge is to absorb as much funding as possible in this program. The competition is high, but we as the minister will provide all the assistance to the university to increase the capacity. I am optimistic because universities are making great progress in collaboration with world or European universities. The weekend we left behind with the Prime Minister were in Michigan, where we signed an agreement between them and 6 public universities in Tirana. “With this progress that our university is making, this time the benefits will be high compared to the contribution we pay,” said Kushi. / abcnews.al
