Deputy General Director of the State Police Albert Dervishaj, in a press conference, has given details about the preparations made in the framework of the election process in the country.
Dervishaj, among other things, announced that starting from today, the institutions are taken under protection. Also, the Deputy Director General of Police announced that there are 7,519 police officers trained for the election process.
“The State Police has engaged 8,049 police officers and has guaranteed 3,429 electoral activities during the campaign, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The police structures, in cooperation with the Judicial District Prosecutions and the Special Prosecution Office against Organized Crime and Corruption, have dealt with and are investigating with priority the criminal offenses related to the electoral process, affecting free elections and democratic election system.
Cooperation with the OSCE / ODIHR international institutions, which monitor the elections, has been permanent. With the OSCE Presence in Albania, but also with some Albanian institutions such as the CEC and the General Prosecutor’s Office, we have developed trainings for police officers for the election process, which have also contributed with field lecturers.
Regarding the OSCE / ODIHR, the work of all Local Police Directorates is ensured and organized, in order to have access, coordinate and monitor the measures related to the election process.
.The State Police is determined and will continue its work to keep the territory under full control, will react legally and proportionately using all its institutional powers and legal force against anyone who threatens, intimidates or violates the law or attempts to sell the vote and will create all the conditions for the Albanian citizens to vote freely and peacefully. ” /abcnews.al
