US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim reacted after President Ilir Meta today decreed Judge Sokol Ngresi as a member of the Supreme Court, making it with 13 members out of 19 members that should be in total.
Through a post on social networks Kim has described the completion of the Supreme Court with 13 members as a big step forward for justice reform.

“A big step forward for justice reform: The 13th High Court judge was appointed today, allowing the joint chambers to finally reach a quorum after 5 years. This means that the Supreme Court is now able to perform all functions, review more cases and change judicial laws rationally.
This big step is thanks to the good cooperation between the institutions of justice and the Presidency. Hopefully this continues. “Justice reform has not been easy, fast or perfect, but it is ultimately moving forward and producing real results,” Kim wrote on Twitter.
With the appointment of Judge Sokol Ngresi, a quorum is met to convene and adjudicate in the United Colleges. The Supreme Court, after 5 years of inability to exercise this basic function, from today can change / unify the case law.
So the Supreme Court returns to functionality to hear cases in the United Colleges and to fully fulfill its sublime mission and authority on matters that need to understand and unify law enforcement, thus ensuring the development of the entire judicial system. / changing case law, unifying jurisprudence, and a uniform stance on various legal issues in the public interest, in respect of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the administration of justice.
