In all Albanian territories, March 7 is celebrated today, Teacher’s Day, an event of educational and cultural importance, where everyone remembers the first teachers of Albanian letters. Teacher’s Day is accompanied by festive activities in every school in the country, while students and parents find the opportunity to express gratitude for the hard work of teachers.
Children, especially the youngest ones, present bunches of flowers to their teachers, while there are sweets and activities with songs and recitations.
Teacher’s Day is dedicated to the educational staff of schools and universities and on this day, we all together honor the best traditions of the Albanian national school, as well as the figure of the teacher. Albanian teachers at any time and in any province were not just education professionals, but first and foremost they were patriots and emancipated people, humanitarians and artists of various fields. In March 1887, the First Albanian School was opened in Korça.
In commemoration of this important cultural and historical event, March 7 is celebrated in Albania as Teacher’s Day.
