Ambassador of the United States of America, Yuri Kim has underlined Monday that the holding of the “Defender Europe 2023” is an extraordinary moment and that the cooperation with Albania and other allies have made NATO more united than ever.
In her remarks during the launch of the drill in Tirana, the diplomat stressed that the USA is proud of the cooperation with Albania and in the future such cooperation will build a new history.
“It is an extraordinary moment, we gathered in a square used by a dictator to isolate Albania from the world. The citizens were forced to build bunkers to repel the enemies.
Look now at a changed Albania, here we are in Mother Teresa Square with a Democratic Albania, Americans and Albanians standing side by side, once separated separately now NATO partners for two years Defender Europe, there is a challenge which is the war in Ukraine, but the aleat are very united.
I can’t help but remember the words of the national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, my personal hero, “Unity makes power”.
From Defender 2021, until 2023, Albania and the USA are doing much more together. Defender 2023 was built to show Albania’s readiness to NATO allies to show the world that with allies we can accomplish any mission. We, together with Albania, will build a new history, we are proud to stand alongside you”, stated the US Ambassador.
However, 24 thousand military troops from allies and partner countries participate in this exercise. This exercise aims to increase the ability of cooperation between NATO countries in cases of conflicts and crises.
