Most of these cases were discovered at the border crossing to the Albanian territory.

While their owners, Albanian citizens and foreigners, have been prosecuted by the police for not declaring the money at the border. From the controls, it has been proven that the point where the most undeclared money was passed is Rinas airport and the Port of Durrës. The money seized by the police are euros, dollars, British pounds and Swiss franc.

Referring to the statistics, during these 6 months, only in the month of March, about 520 thousand euros were blocked at the border points, which is the highest value compared to other months. Mainly, the Albanian citizens for whom the proceedings start in a free state, declare during the interrogation that they do not know that if they pass more than 10 thousand euros at the border, they must declare the value to the competent bodies.

While some foreign citizens do not give statements to the police about the source of income for the monetary values that are revealed to them. In these cases, the investigators have doubts that the money derives from criminal activity abroad and is intended to be invested in Albania.
