Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj has called Friday for unity and love as he wished all Muslim believers a happy Eid al-Fitr.
On the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, Veliaj said that today Tirana is more united than ever, while expressing the desire that the spirit of cooperation and service will continue even after the month of Ramadan.
“Today Tirana is more united! When I think that we have gone through some unimaginable challenges, such as the earthquake, the pandemic, we would not have succeeded if we did not share this burden. We have shared it with the mosques of Tirana, with the faith communities, with those who have offered a plate of soup, managed very difficult cases of sick people in hospitals, and the very fact that we have this opportunity to share this burden, it has made our city better, it has made Tirana more united and more solidary.
If we behave every day like in Ramadan, I believe that many of those small vices, small quarrels, arguments, can be resolved if we consider that there are more things that unite us than the things that divide us. I wish you all much success, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your cooperation. Happy Eid holiday. We will be at several social centers today to serve the holiday meal and I would like to continue with the spirit of service, togetherness and love for our city. Health and prosperity for you and all your families”, said Veliaj.
