The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said that the alliance’s presence in Kosovo has been successful. During the joint conference with the president of Albania, Bajram Begaj, he emphasized that the alliance is present in Kosovo, and that they support the path of dialogue for the full normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
“NATO’s presence in Kosovo has proved to be important for many years. KFOR personnel support diplomatic efforts in the EU and we also appreciate the recently organized EU discussions on relations between Serbia and Kosovo.
NATO will continue to facilitate the dialogue, because we believe that this is the only way to a solution and stability in Kosovo. The parties must demonstrate compromise for a final settlement. NATO is present in Kosovo, and we take it seriously and strongly support the dialogue”, he said.
The Albanian head of state said that security in Kosovo and Albania is security for Europe, but also for NATO itself. He said that Albania is on Kosovo’s side and that it will support its efforts to become part of membership in regional and international organizations.
“NATO is present in the Balkans. Security in the region, security in Albania and Kosovo, is security for Europe and security for NATO. Kosovo has been an independent state for 15 years and is working every day to build a clear Euro-Atlantic vision. Albania supports Kosovo in its journey in the processes of membership in international or regional organizations, one of which is NATO,” he said
