GJKKO(Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime) accepted SPAK’s request to summon 71 witnesses, including Shkëlzen Berisha and Aldo Bumçi, regarding the Gerdec tragedy.
The journalist of ABC News, Ermal Vija, as he is closely following the developments, says that Mediu is accused of “abuse of duty” within the military chain of command in relation to the dismantling of ammunition in the workshop of Gerdec.
Meanwhile, the families of the victims of Gerdec have requested that the testimony of 12 other people be taken in the trial for Fatmir Mediu.
Among the list, two important names stand out, the former managers of the American company “AEY”, Efraim Diveroli and David Packouz. Therefore, their testimony can be very valuable for the court, as they can show the role of the son of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Shkelzen Berisha, in that crime, which killed 26 innocent people. The former Minister of Defense in the Berisha government wants to question 90 witnesses.
Among them, there is the former US Deputy Secretary of Defense in the period 2006-2009 Gordon England, or the former Ministers of Defense of Germany and Italy.
