Prime Minister Edi Rama and French President Emmanuel Macron, after signing economic and cooperation agreements, held a press conference. During his speech, Prime Minister Rama said that the autocracy is gaining an advantage in relation to the democracies and this, he added, is not positive.
Rama also thanked Macron for the support given, not leaving untouched the topic of the integration process. Rama said that the EU should not fall into a ‘trap’, but give opportunities to the Western Balkans, based on the merit of the country.
“It’s been 100 years, more than 100 years, of diplomatic relations between France and Albania, and the strategic partnership agreement that we have signed is a cornerstone, on which we will continue to build a long path of cooperation. We desire and have desired Europe and how much Europe is connected with the name of France and how much the name of France is connected with Europe.
This visit is much more than formal. It is a friendly visit, the commitment to deepen a relationship between France and Albania that, if we look at the data, has seen a development in recent years, as a result of France’s re-engagement in the region, through the direct engagement of the President.
