Austrian President, Alexander Van der Bellen, after the meeting with President Bajram Begaj, went to the Parliament, where he spoke about the close relations between Austria and Albania. He also mentioned Austria’s continued support for Albania’s path towards European integration.
“Behind every activity that Austria develops in Albania, there is a great goal, and this is the support of Albania’s path towards the EU. Austria has been and is one of those member countries that support the integration of Albania and for whom integration is a matter of the heart.
I could tell you several reasons for this, such as the geographical position. It is clear that the Western Balkans is part of the common European family and therefore Austria has been supporting the membership negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia for a long time,” he said.
The Austrian president also mentioned the contribution of Albanians in Austria to cultural life. “I am very happy that the cultural life in Austria is enriched by artists of Albanian origin. 100 years ago it was Aleksandër Moisiu who amazed the German-speaking public on stage and today artists like Eno Peçi, who is making an impressive career as a choreographer and soloist of the Vienna Opera,” he said./abcnews.al
