Policeman shot dead, another injured in Northern Kosovo

Kosovo policeman, identified as Afrim Bunjaku, was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in the north, while another was injured.
Local media reported that the serious incident took place in the village of Banjska in Leposavic where the police patrol was attacked.

According to the sources, some people blocked the Mitrovica-Leposavic road with two trucks and shot at the police vehicle.

This was also confirmed by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who blames the event on official Belgrade, adding that the injured policeman does not risk dying.

“We condemn this criminal and terrorist attack. Organized crime with political, financial and logistical support from official Belgrade is attacking our country. In this battle we protect and enforce the law, protect and preserve citizens without distinction and independent Kosovo.

The executing criminals and their order givers will fail, be caught, tried and punished. The Government of the Republic of Kosovo and state institutions are ready and coordinated to respond to crime and criminals, terror and terrorists”, wrote Kurti.
