President Ilir Meta delivered his speech at the international conference “Religion as an instrument for peace”. The head of state praised for the religious harmony in the country, which, according to him, has also influenced the process of European integration of the country.
“Do not let Albania suffer the demographic winter of Europe that Pope Francis has commissioned us.
We pray that our people will build the future here. Albania is committed to EU integration. I would like to thank all the religious leaders who have been united in this process said Meta.
The President further noted the problems faced by religious communities in the country. “There are problems with land acquisition for building cult objects. Religious authorities have expressed concerns about foreign influence. This is an issue that evokes responsibility. We need to take new legal initiatives. We need to provide more protection for minorities ,said Meta.
At the end of his speech, the head of state also stopped at camps in Syria, as he mentioned the case of Alvin Berisha. Regarding to this, Meta said that rehabilitation camps should be established for the victims of this phenomenon. “The country was shocked by the case of Alvin Berisha. Thanks to professional journalism the boy was rescued and is reunited with his family. But there are other camps with dozens of women and children. Rehabilitation camps should be set up .Victims of this phenomenon must be identified and integrated, ”the President said. /abcnews.al
