Prime Minister Edi Rama told journalists after the government meeting that students who want to continue medicine must accept the condition that they work for 5 years in the service of the people before they receive the degree.
According to him, this applies to students who will apply this year to study medicine, while for those who have already started this journey, if they do not accept this condition, they will face higher fees.
“Every medical student who will enter the University of Medicine will have to be aware of the fact that medicine takes a few years, while in order to receive a degree they must spend 5 years in the service of the people. For all those in this process the years are lower, escalating, but it is absolutely their choice.
For first-year students, there is only one choice. If they want to study medicine at the public university, they must accept this condition, which is the new format of this university. The Albanian people do not pay taxes for the doctors who are trained with symbolic fees in a university that is supported by the taxes of the Albanian people so that the doctors leave since the first day”, said Edi Rama.
