The Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, in a statement to the media, clarified that the University of Korça, “Fan Noli” will not be closed and will continue its work in the new academic year.
Kushi said that there have been proposals for its closure but no definitive decisions, where she added that there can only be a merger of some programs that are shrinking.
“The meeting was very constructive with the lecturers, first we talked about the decisions of the ministry and developments at the university, what are the problems. There are two directions how this university can be developed, first is internationalization, initiatives must be increased and increased so that the university opens more for dual programs. The second direction is the profiling of universities, to determine a good strategy to focus on some programs.
Looking at the study trends some may be shrinking but some may be getting stronger, it doesn’t mean anything that some programs may be closed. The university will continue but will rise even more, we will support the development of the university. There have been no definitive decisions on closure, but proposals”, said the minister.
