Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) will hold this Wednesday the session for hearing the defense of the defendants for the Fier Incinerator.

Today’s session was expected to start at 10 o’clock, but because the defense lawyers of the defendants have not arrived, it has not started yet.

It is expected that today at least 7 people who have been charged, including former minister Koka, former MP Blako and Arben Dervishaj, will defend themselves, ABC News journalist Ermal Vija reports.

They were arrested in connection with the construction of the Fier incinerator, which, according to the prosecution, committed violations and corruption.

Earlier, the Special Prosecutor’s Office asked the court for the punishment of at least 15 defendants, when the former minister Koka requested a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment for the charge of corruption, abuse of office and money laundering.

But because the process against them was done with a shortened trial, in case Koka is found guilty, the punishment will be 6.8 years of imprisonment.

Meanwhile, for the former deputy Blako, he requested a sentence of 7 years in prison and, in the application of the shortened trial, a sentence of 4.8 years of deprivation of liberty.

Prosecution has demanded punishment for the people who built the incinerator, such as Klodian Zoto. For Zoto, SPAK has requested 12 years in prison and if he is found guilty, he will be sentenced to 8 years in prison.
