In the studio of Tirana Live on ABC News, the commanding head of the PD, Enkelejd Alibeaj commented, among other things, on the meeting held with the head of the OSCE-ODIHR mission, Audrey Glover.
Alibeaj said that he informed Glover on the violations encountered according to him in the electoral campaign by the CEC, starting from the registration of the PD in these elections.
“I made it clear that there are three issues that should be touched upon or discussed during this campaign. The macro situation of the elections in this country. I informed them as well as the 2021 report of Glover, it has shown that the individual should be at the center of the elections.
I informed all the recommendations of ODIHR that nothing has changed.
All recommendations should be made to change the Electoral Code. The state has brought the electoral battle to the field, these are bans that should not happen. I informed Glover that our proposals were arrogantly rejected by the authorities.
Even the violations of the CEC, in the campaign it refused to register PD commissioners, it refused to register PD even after the Appeal decision, or for the other fact that by delaying it with the complaints we were forced to make, it denied us a right to form a coalition with other parties, that the deadline had passed.
Today, candidates who have been convicted are running, the specific case being Qerim Ismailaj. There is a decision that we sent to Celibashi, he has only a legal obligation to read it.
These are the violations I reported to Glover. PD is in abnormal conditions of presentation in the campaign, with occupied headquarters, with finances that today as we speak, not a single penny has been paid to the PD that the CEC is obliged to pay according to the law.
All this puts a big cross on the quality of the elections on May 14.” said Alibeaj.
