Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha risks facing a new measure if he again refuses to appear in the Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK).

At 10:00 am, Berisha will have to appear in SPAK, according to the order of GJKKO, in implementation of the court’s decision given on October 26 in the framework of investigations into the affair of the Partizani complex.

In the first session, he refused to go on the pretext that the court did not receive the permission of the Assembly.  According to the procedure, if the former prime minister does not appear again to implement the obligation imposed by the court, SPAK can request a more severe security measure against him, such as “house arrest”.

This Monday, at 09:00, the complaint of the lawyers and his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, who request the cancellation of the security measure, is expected to be examined in the Appeal.

GJKKO has tried to find Berisha in the Parliament as well, after failing to get his signature at the headquarters and home, to inform him about the security measures.

A few days ago, the court sent two letters to the Parliament, which were addressed to the citizen under investigation, Sali Berisha: one where he acknowledged the obligation to appear and not to leave the country, and a second one to specify that these coercive measures against him are in force, despite the claim of Berisha’s lawyers.

But Sali Berisha has not received these documents, even though the Parliament of Albania has notified the deputy through the official email that two envelopes have arrived.

Afterwards, the administration of the Assembly, since Berisha does not have an office or a group in the Parliament, forwarded the unopened envelopes to the former prime minister by mail to the blue headquarters.
