The Court of Special Appeal rejected the request of Jamarber Malltezi, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, for the return of a seized mobile phone and some documents.
“The Court of Appeals today’s session, rejected the request of Jamarber Malltezi’s lawyers who requested the return of a mobile phone and the return of some documents taken immediately after his arrest.
Malltezi was arrested in October, on suspicion of being a person involved in corruption. A month later, the security measure was changed from prison arrest to house arrest. Today GJKKO rejected the request of Malltezi’s lawyers.
He is being investigated for active corruption, after according to SPAK, after cooperation with former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, he has benefited from a plot of land in the area of the former Partizani complex.
Several other requests of Malltez have been previously rejected by the court. Malltezi has asked for the lifting of asset seizures”, ABC News journalist Ermal Vija reported.
25 assets have been seized from Jamarbër Malltez, among them apartments, a villa, 6 bank accounts and company shares. Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Assembly decided with 75 votes in favor of removing the immunity of Sali Berisha, opening the way for the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) to arrest him.
