“The relationship between Albania and the USA has progressed a lot in these 31 years”. This is what the American diplomat stated at the “Albania-USA” conference that is taking place in Tirana within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two countries.

Kim expressed his emotions about the scenes of 1991, where hundreds of Albanians welcomed Secretary of State James Baker in the square.

“Hoxha’s regime closed the country and tried to poison the friendship between Albanians and Americans. In 1991 there was a new beginning.

Even though I have seen thousands of photographs, I am still deeply touched by the photos of 300 thousand Albanians. They gathered in Skanderbeg Square to say that we are with you, to hear Secretary Baker that freedom works,” she said.

The ambassador also said that there is still a lot to do. “31 years after the fall of communism, there is still much to do. Think how much we have progressed’, she said.
