State Police have conducted checks in Tirana, where last week they arrested and prosecuted 15 people for driving while drunk or without a license.
Based on the released data, 56 licenses were suspended for driving under the influence of alcohol, for speeding beyond the permitted rates and for other violations of the Traffic Code.
Furthermore, 559 vehicle drivers were punished with administrative measures for using mobile phones while driving. 348 drivers were punished for not giving priority to pedestrians, on white lines, while 542 drivers were punished for not wearing seat belts.
Meanwhile, 175 administrative measures have been imposed on motorcycle riders for not wearing a protective helmet.
