Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the elected president of Albania, Bajram Begaj. Putin’s congratulations to Bajram Begaj became known on the official website of the Russian Embassy in Albania, through a Facebook post.
“The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has conveyed congratulations to Mr. Bajram Begaj for his election as President of the Republic of Albania and wishes him health and success in his highest state duty,” the Russian embassy wrote in Facebook.
We recall that Major General Bajram Begaj, has received the trust of the majority of deputies in the Assembly to be the new President of the Republic of Albania on June 4. From the vote in the Albanian Parliament, Begaj received 78 votes in favor and 4 votes against and one abstention, while he needed only 71 to replace Ilir Meta.
83 deputies took part in the voting process, of which 74 were from the majority. Mesila Doda, Shpetim Idrizi, Nusret Avdullai, Monika Kryemadhi, Petrit Vasili, Erisa Xhixho voted from the opposition, while three PSD deputies also took part in the voting.
